I built MoneyChisme for:

The First Gen Latina that had to learn everything the hard way and on the fly. The Latina who did not see themselves in personal finance spaces. For the only Latina in the room. For the future generation, like my daughter, to have better financial opportunities.

What MoneyChisme is about:

I grew tired of hearing how minorities need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, ignoring the way capitalism and discrimination has affected us.

I grew tired of not seeing people like me. I grew tired of the half-ass financial advice that made me feel shame. And I especially grew tired of seeing greed when it came to building businesses and wealth. Thus MoneyChisme was born!

My main focus is to provide educational real estate investing and personal finance content, courses and resources that are easily digestible and culturally relevant. Oh yeah, without making you feel guilty or asking for extreme frugality!

MoneyChisme also wants to give a big ass mic to our voices, with the MoneyChisme Podcast and the Real Estate Chisme Podcast. Learn financial literacy, get money and real estate investing tips from other wealth builders from our own community. But most importantly we share their financial journeys, because our stories need to be heard!

ABOUT ME

Hola I am Violeta,

A first generation Mexican immigrant, who grew up undocumented and the eldest hard-charging daughter! I grew up ready to hit the streets running! But after a failed marriage and running out of money for college, I hit rock bottom. So, I joined the United States Navy. After three years, I was able to buy my first home and househacked it by renting out one of the rooms to a friend. I then rented out that home and purchased a second home when I moved to a different duty station. This was the start of my real estate investing journey.

I was able to finish college and earned a Bachelor’s in Science in Occupational Health and Safety degree. I was also commissioned as a Naval Officer in Industrial Hygiene. I then turned my focus into investing in real estate.

Like so many first-gen immigrants, I grew up figuring everything out the hard way—especially when it came to money! The books I read and the videos I watched didn’t have anyone who looked like me, and let’s be real, our Latino culture views money a little differently. I saw how far behind we are when it comes to closing the racial wealth gap, and I knew real estate investing and entrepreneurship were the keys to changing that. That’s why I created MoneyChisme Ⓡ—a platform to empower first-gen Latinos and POC with real estate and business education. No guilt, no greed, just empathy and real change to build our wealth and communities!
