Creating the Future You Want: Tips and Strategies for Achieving Your Goals
Achieving your goals can seem daunting and overwhelming. However are the actions you’re taking today going to make the future you want into a reality? As a First Gen Latina, I did not learn how to ensure I achieve my goals. Here we talk about what we should ask ourselves to make sure they do!
Achieving Your Goals: Creating them
The first step in achieving your goals to create the future you want is to set clear and specific goals. Sit down and take the time to think about what you really want and write down your goals. Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, and attainable. This will help you to stay focused and motivated as you work towards achieving them.
Achieving Your Goals: Tracking Them
Tracking your goals is essential to hold yourself accountable to ensure you achieve them Track your actions and your progress towards your goals. Create a system to track and periodically check your progress. Take the time to reflect and to make adjustments. Take responsibility for your successes and failures and learn from them. You should focus on finding solutions to the challenges you face.
Your Goals Mindset
Your mindset is the key to achieving your goals. One way to help you create a successful mindset is to start visualizing it. Visualization is a powerful tool that is proven to help you to achieve your goals. Create the habit of setting aside time each day to visualize. Focus on what it would feel like to accomplish your dreams. How will this make you feel? How will this impact you? Practicing visualization can keep you focused and motivated, and will give you the mental strength you need to overcome any obstacles that may come your way.
Visualizing Achieving Your Goals Practice
Try this brainstorming exercise. How involved do you want to be in your dream life? Do you want to continue to work until the end of time? There is nothing wrong with that! Some people enjoy their job/career or being active in their own business. Furthermore, will you want to work in an office or work from home? This is important, as the job/career you have now may not support it.
In contrast, would you like to have more leisure time? For example, travel or pursuing hobbies, may be your ideal future life. This is important, because you may be building a business with you as the brand. For example, Kim Kardashian is the business. She has to be active constantly to ensure the success of her business. She is the brand. In doing so, she has little privacy and freedom to enjoy a quiet life. So if this isn’t your goal, make sure you aren’t heading down that path!
Lastly, how do your finances look like in the future? Would you like to have just enough to be have financial freedom? You may be okay with a small business or nice retirement fund to keep you comfortable. Are you trying to build generational wealth or an empire? This means you will need to scale your business and find several sources of income.
Visualization and Success
In her book, “Leap Frog,” Nathalie Molina Nino uses this exercise to help entrepreneurs determine if the businesses they’re building and their dream life can coexist. Additionally, you can apply this to careers too. So take a moment and think about it.

However, you will have a foundation to build upon along the way and a guide you to reach your goals and ideal life. Now that you have figured out what kind of future you prefer, adjust your actions to get you there.
Create Positive Habits
Want to know what makes a successful person? Habits! Developing good habits is essential to achieving your goals. Having a routine, and stick to it, increases the ability to achieve goals. Ensuring you get the proper amount of sleep, food, and exercise, are all habits that put you in a position to complete goals. Good habits will help you to stay focused and motivated as you work towards achieving your goals.
Time Management Skills
One main habit that helped me in achieving my goals was learning effective time management. Knowing how to use your time wisely is key to achieving your goals. Create a plan and schedule your tasks to up to a specific time frame (I like to schedule per month.) Prioritize your tasks and focus on the most important ones first.
Finally, stay motivated! Remember why you started and keep your eyes on the prize. Don’t forget to smell the roses. Celebrate your successes along the way and enjoy it. and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. With determination and perseverance, you can achieve the future you want.
Creating the future you want is possible! With the right mindset, habits, and strategies, achieving your goals is easier. Having clear goals, holding yourself accountable, visualizing success, developing positive habits, managing your time effectively, you can achieve your dreams and create the life you want.
