Financial Goals BINGO card

Reflect, Reset and Achieve Your Financial Goals with BINGO

It’s time to wrap up the old and step boldly into the new, by creating your new year financial goals. The start of a new year is a blank canvas! It is full of possibilities for growth, success, and joy. But let’s be real: setting goals can feel overwhelming if we don’t take the time to reflect on what’s working and what needs to change.

That’s where this guide comes in. I combined two powerful practices, reflection and intentional goal-setting. By the time you’re done, you’ll have a clearer vision for your year and a creative way to track your progress.

Did I mention we’re turning your goals into a BINGO game? Vision boards are nice but nothing like marking off your goals as you go.

Step 1: Reflecting on the past year

Before we dive into setting goals for the new year, we must take a look at all of our accomplishments and “failure” from this past year.  Reflection helps us celebrate wins, learn from challenges, and build a foundation for even bigger moves.

Here are a few categories to reflect on:

Wins & Highlights

It is time to brag and embrace your wins from this past year! Reflect on the highlights of the past year and celebrate your big wins!

Lessons Learned:

Learn from your failures and successes from last year. What did you learn last year? Remember don’t beat yourself up! It’s all part of growth!

Habits and Patterns:

One way to ensure you reach your goals, is to create habits and patterns. What habits helped you accomplish your financial goals last year? What didn’t work?

Social Relationships:

We are social beings! Reflect on your relationships (friends, family, romantic). What relationships did you build on? What relationships did you have to let go?

Gratitude Check-in:

End the previous year and start the new year with some gratitude! Take some time and reflect on what you are grateful for, no matter how big or small!

Pro Tip: Write your reflections in a journal or note app so you can revisit them next year. Seeing how far you’ve come is powerful!

Step 2: Set Goals for the New Year

Now that you have reflected on the past year’s financial decisions, it’s time to create goals that touch all aspects of your life.

Your new financial goals should follow the S.M.A.R.T method for goal setting.

  • Specific: Make your goals as specific as possible
  • Measurable: Create your goal in a way that is measurable and trackable
  • Achievable: It’s tempting to shoot for the stars, but this may make your goal unattainable
  • Relevant: Set goals that are relevant to your vision and objectives
  • Time-bound: Set deadlines or target dates

Here are 5 categories to focus on:

Mental & Mindset Goals :

Everything starts with your mindset and mental growth! Create goals for your mind and learning. This can be reading a certain amount of books, taking course, attending workshops, etc.

Emotional Well-being Goals:

Your emotional welfare should also be a top goal for 2026. We tend to get lost in the sauce, when chasing goals, that we neglect self-care. Not in 2026! Set some self-care goals. For example, going to therapy, working out or having a spa day.

Financial Goals:

This will be the year to level up your money game! This can mean creating some professional goals to get that promotion or maybe turning a side hustle into a business. Maybe it is creating a budget, saving or real estate investing. Create your financial goals for the new year.

Social Goals:

Building and growing relationships is not only important for your wellbeing, but also to reach success. This can be networking, connecting with family, strengthening your bond with your significant other. Create some social goals like date nights, game nights, or community service.Goals for building/growing relationships, family and community. Online relationships count too!

Spiritual Goals:

Spirituality does not have to mean religion. Focusing on spiritual goals can mean meditating, journaling, or even traveling to your home town to reconnect with culture. This is for you and purpose in life.  Get to know yourself.

Step 3: Create Your BINGO Card

When we create our new year goals we often go for a vision board. However, if you get a high off of checking things off (and love games), what better way than to do it BINGO style. Creating your goals as a BINGO card is a fun, creative way to stay inspired and motivated throughout the year.

How to Create Your BINGO Card:

First, brainstorm all your 2025 new year goals. Then decide how you would like to add them on the BINGO card.

Here are two options to create your BINGO card.

Generic BINGO Card

You can use a regular BINGO card from the store and add your goals, or find a template on CANVA or online. You can use pictures or text.

Large Poster BINGO Card

Create a Poster Board Bingo Card. Use the BINGO card from my guide as a rough draft. Then use a large poster board to create a large version to hang up! You can be creative with how you want to mark off your goals.

Tips for Success:

Be Specific: Instead of “exercise more,” try “do yoga twice a week.”

Track Your Progress: You’ll feel amazing checking off your goals. Remember to assess your progress daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly.

Keep it Visible: Stick your BINGO card somewhere you’ll see it daily (e.g., fridge, planner, or phone wallpaper).

Celebrate Progress: Celebrate each time you mark off a goal. Treat yourself big when you get BINGO or complete all your goals!
